Tevo Howard for RBMA at Plan B London

Throw anything Roland in front of Tevo Howard with the numeral '0' between any two other numerals and you're set for a gloriously melodic Chicago affair, with jackin beats, claps and percussion awash with the hottest of acid licks.

What draws Tevo apart from the rest is his ability to apply evocative rhodes, majestic piano progressions, swooning pads and mellifluous outpourings to a classic windy city sequence.

What better way to start your friday then with a delightfully deep and melodic mix by Lawrence aka Sten aka Peter M. Kersten.

Lawrence along side Carsten Jost and Turner founded Dial Records, a label that for the past 10 years has become and institution for house music lovers. Dial is responsible for Pantha Du Prince's and Efdimin's first two LP's as well John Roberts exquisite Glass Eights release last year.

This mix comes courtesy of RBMA radio at Athens Entechno festival via its main stage last year.

Shackleton Trainwreck Mix for RBMA

The latest show to hit Redbull's Music Academy Radio shelves is Shackleton's brumal Trainwreck mix. Cast away thoughts of a 15 year old bedroom DJ honing in on their first CDJ 100 beat match and experience a intellectual, shivery and thought provoking mix that could easily soundtrack the 497 days that Ernest Shackleton and the Loss Of The Endurance explorers experienced on a Antarctic ice floe.

2010 saw the shadowy Shackleton release only the one Man On A String/Bastard Spirit EP which features early on in this mix. This was the first release on his new label Woe To A Septic Heart (Skull Disco RIP 2005-2008). Shackleton's smatterings of spoken word and Middle Eastern samples throughout the mix further strengthen a intention to drift further from a 'dubstepped' sound and toward something sleeker, leaner and less easily classifiable.

According to his cover story in Novembers issue of The Wire, Shackleton also has a project in the works called Refugees Of The Septic Heart, which is apparently a spoken word duo featuring himself alongside past collaborator Vengeance Tenfold, who lent his vocal talents to the 2008 Skull Disco single Death is Not Final.

If you were to see Soulphiction their is no doubt that Frankfurt's Robert Johnson would be the place. Well you can do the next best thing and stream it here! Well maybe not the next best thing but a good thing. If your were a fan of Thomas Hammann & Gerd Jansen live at Robert Johnson Volume 4 then you'll love this.

Along with another drum ensembler who shall remain anonymous, Soulphiction hails from Germany's own motor city Stuttgart. Souplhiction aka Michel Baumann starts us of with TEA favourite and interviewee Tornado Wallace and from there it's all hands up warmth as we'll some other freaky mother f**** tracks.

Soulphiction also rolls under the Jackmate and Manmade Science pseudonyms as well as calling the shots at Phil Pot and Phil_e Imprints, Philpot being Larry Levan's real last name. Phil Pot earlier this year was responsible for releasing Juju & Jordash's tropical jam Tattoo island as well as last years immensely piano driven hit Diskadenz by Ike from the Lost 4 Trax ep.

Nina Kraviz live at Bar London for RBMA

This mix from Nina Kraviz was recorded live for RBMA on the coastal Russian city of Sochi, host of 2014 winter Olympics. Sleazy beats from the get go as Kraviz kicks things off with some slow mo, toe jackin house.

Kraviz has been turning more heads than an Anna Kournikova tennis match over the past 2 years with a slew of releases on Re Kids, Naif, BPitch Control and Jus Ed's Underground Quality (along with fellow comrade Anton Zap).

When she's not inspecting the ground teeth of late night kiddies she can been seen spinning choons at Moscows famous Properganda club, same club as where TEA favourite Vakula first made his name.

So sit back, relax and maybe knock back a few vodka shots to Nina gettin all things deep, jackin and sleeeazay.

Between tracks Terre Thaemiltz talks of New Yorks 'however you make it' club scene, classic Chicago & Italian house, Todd Terry, vogue tranny environments, Madonna free zones and his disliking of vocal house. Is spoken word the new vocal house?

Well worth a listen for a difference of opinion and solo approach.
