TEA - Robert Hood - Cuckoo - 01/07/10

TEA threw its first party at Adelaide's techno savvy Cuckoo Bar hosted by none other then Detroit techno legend Robert Hood with straddling support from Adelaide's HMC, The Carter Bros and Clyde Drexler.

The Detroit sound is and has always been big in the south and Cuckoo bar with its Funktion One was tingling with excitement at the chance to see one of techno's finest. Clyde Drexler kicked the night off and kept things deep and foot tapping until Adelaide's renowned HMC took over with a warm up set played from the heart and the head receiving woops and yiews from Cuckoo's adoring connoisseurs and first timers alike.

The Omega man was last in Adelaide 18 years ago and with Cuckoo buzzing from HMC's perfectly timed drops of Carl Craig, Mr Bojangles and Chuck Roberts "In the beginning there was jack!" cometh Robert Hood. Hood opened with Alpha "The Beginning" before getting the party started in true Hood fashion with machined 4 by 4's and those hats that we all love.

A predominately vinyl set saw Hoods vintage Detroit jams sequenced between snippets from his new album 'Omega' with Alpha and Omega getting the most from Cuckoos F1 soundsystem. Hood played to a packed house until 3:30am on a Thursday with the Adelaide faithful proving they know and love their techno.

The Carter Bros finished up for Cuckoo's school night revelers keeping the vibe strong until 5am, sealing off a party that will no doubt be talked about for another 18 years to come.
