TEA Podcast #26 - MRSK

It’s not everyday a fresh-faced techno-pup bursts onto the scene in a praise of glory like Martin Skogehall aka MRSK did last year with his remix to Anthony “Shake” Shakir’s “Travellers”. The last time such a sensation was experienced was perhaps Joy Orbison’s era-defining “Hyph Mngo”.
Skogehall’s “Travellers” remix may not have been meet with as much widely-spoken laudation as “Hyph Mngo” - due to its house and techno sensibilities - but it did receive some beefy support from house and techno merssrs Rolando, DJ Deep and Mike Huckaby; it also landed at a sleek number 7 on TEA’s Top Tracks for 2011.
So far this year MRSK has only released the one Twirl/Pinkman ep on Skudge Presents (Aardvarck and October releases have since followed) and rumours have surfaced of an remix to Russia’s lone ranger Woo York due out soon.

MRSK’s mix is anything but linear with Skogehall offering a bevy of broken beats, booty-bass shaking bottom end, happy house melodies, acid and the good ol’ fashion stuff.
