Dada - Glimpse & DJ Rahaan

Old, New, Disco, Techno, Newcastle, Sunderland, Jackie Milburn, George Holey....oh did I mention Glimpse (live) & DJ Rahaan

Glimpse and surprise addition DJ Rahaan grace Newcastle's Cosmic Ballroom for the North East's (UK) favourite late night soirée.

Fresh from the launch of his album "Runner" (Crosstown Rebels) Glimpse was an nominee for both DJ Mags Producer of the year and IDJ's Player of the year. The sheer wealth of varying super-labels who have released material by Glimpse (Cadenza, Planet E, Crosstown, Buzzin Fly, Kompakt, Get Physical) begins to hint at the depth of his live sound.

Only other place you catch him this year will be at 'Ibeefahs' Space.

Added inclusion and true legend amongst the real aficionado's of contemporary dance music is DJ Rahaan.

Rahaan's unparalleled skills as a DJ have taken him from the Chicago underground circuit to the international playing field of Japan, Australia, Amsterdam, Spain, Ireland, Scotland, England, throughout America.

Regarded as the consistent highlight of the world famous Southport weekender, expect a performance steeped in the mans personality which takes in his roots in the 80's during the birth of modern House Music, but manages to sound as fresh as anything being made today.

Local stalwarts include

Ward 10 (Garry Ogden, Keiron Sawkill)

One20 (Music/Slash/Art, Choice, Tokyo)

Last Waltz DJs (check out Geoff Leopards P45 mix here & Mick Rolfe's 'Alreet Summer Boys mix' here.)

Geoff Leopard - P45 mix

Man amongst town, someone that can 'out-Prog' just about anyone and one slice of Last Waltz DJs troupe (left) Geoff Leopard in the past week has dropped a nice new mix on us which nicley enough includes some edits of his own.

Geoff has shrugged the current deep trend for some rock and disco edits as well as a nice mixture of songs that make people dance. Geoff would know as he is no stranger in keeping bums wiggling across the North East UK and London.

Geoff helps run the successful 'dada' that I was luckily enough to play back in february of this year supporting Alex Cellar (Cecille Numbers) and Anthea (Phonica). He's also had Ewan Pearson, Joy Orbison, Magda, Ivan Scmaggie, Ashley Beadle, Greg Wilson,Tiefschwarz and Phoreski around.

Check out Phoreski's new remix to Last Waltz DJs - Criminal which you can here on their myspace

But in the mean time enjoy some cultured cuts from Geoff Leopard

Newcastle - we are DADA - February

DADA is a weekly event that’s been running at Newcastle (UK)’s favourite underground club, The Cosmic Ballroom, since October 2009.

In their short existence DADA has managed to become quite a sensation booking Polish born come Detroit techno producer & DJ Magda, Hot Flush chieftain & dubstep sensation Joy Orbison, Frances most wanted radio host Ivan Smagghe, renound UK remixer & producer Ewan Pearson, disco reviser Greg Wilson and Daft Punk 'Teachers' referenced Ashley Beedle.

Dada is also a collaborative concept, which places an equal emphasis on it’s visual concepts as well as its music. DADA's art direction is managed by Newcastle based OneNineFour Studio with original illustrations commissioned by Amy Dover.

February's first weekend sees Alex Celler (Cecille Numbers) & Anthea (Phonica) play a Back2Back set full of house & tech-house goodness, London's east end darlings Radeo Vidio will add to proceedings with an eclectic pinch of disco & house gems alongside supporting residents GARRY OGDEN (Ward10) in the main room and Geoff Leopard & El.Dee (Last Walz DJs) taking care of the boudoir.

The 27th of February will also see DADA hosting a very special event with Tech-House heavyweights TIEFSCHWARZ. Room 2 will plays host to an extremely rare performance from the illusive Disco-Legend I-F, who’s 10 year old mixtape “Mixed up in The Hague’ has recently been voted number 3 in the “
Resident Advisor” top 50 mixes poll of the last decade. Room 2 will see usual support from “Last Waltz”, featuring Geoff Leopard in Room 1, and El.Dee & Mick Rolfe in room 2.

DADA warm up set for Joy Orbison (main room) 30/01/10

Everyone's going DADA this February!
