Northern Electronics readies second release

Swedish Acronym will supply the Scandinavian deep techno label Northern Electronics with its second release.

Earlier this year Abdullah Rashim launched the Northern Electronics imprint with Varg’s largely slept on Misatropen LP, an ambient masterpiece of long, droney acid and dub techno. It is one of four releases Varg has debuted with in 2013, with a split cassette release coming via obscure label Periferin and a further two releases on Funeral Fog Records - one EP as the truly Nordic and left of field Dard Å Ranj Från Det Hebbershålska Samfundet.

Northern Electronics is a side-project of Rashim’s own ARR label and it’s preparing to roll out its second release for 2013. The Red River Gum EP comes from Acronym, the producer behind both Dimensional Exploration releases to come from the label of the same name that surfaced last year. It’s high end techno of a low-end sonic, and the second release echoes a strand of techno synonymous with the brooding sounds of Prologue.

Like much of Prologue and Rashim’s music, hi-hats play less of a role, with an intended focus on sub-aqueous pulse and undulating pressures. The inspiration behind the title Red River Gum, an eucalyptus tree native to Australia, literally couldn’t be further from the label that’s based in the isolated and antipodean reaches of northern Sweden. But it is an EP hunched on the throbbing and circuitous loops of Mike Parker and Giorgio Gigli, while also drawing similarities and deep-think from the dour machine bleeps of Terrence Fixmer and the long and euphoric sequences of Claudio PRC. A soulfully down-reaching EP of organic, nature-laced techno.
