Geoff Leopard - P45 mix

Man amongst town, someone that can 'out-Prog' just about anyone and one slice of Last Waltz DJs troupe (left) Geoff Leopard in the past week has dropped a nice new mix on us which nicley enough includes some edits of his own.

Geoff has shrugged the current deep trend for some rock and disco edits as well as a nice mixture of songs that make people dance. Geoff would know as he is no stranger in keeping bums wiggling across the North East UK and London.

Geoff helps run the successful 'dada' that I was luckily enough to play back in february of this year supporting Alex Cellar (Cecille Numbers) and Anthea (Phonica). He's also had Ewan Pearson, Joy Orbison, Magda, Ivan Scmaggie, Ashley Beadle, Greg Wilson,Tiefschwarz and Phoreski around.

Check out Phoreski's new remix to Last Waltz DJs - Criminal which you can here on their myspace

But in the mean time enjoy some cultured cuts from Geoff Leopard

Apparat - New Guernica - 26/04/10

Melbournes New Guernica hosted 2 live shows of BPitch Controls Apparat over the Anzac Day weekend.

Last time I saw Apparat he was one half of mind blowing Moderat playing at Barcelona’s Sonar festival in a hanger the size of the Nou Camp. So what better way to see him a second time then at Melbourne’s New Guernica, only this time Apparat was the one dropping bombs not General Franco.

Apparat’s intelligible drums patterns with a doof to make the most timid woop had the New Guernicas knowledgeable and receptive crowd flailing their arms and exchanging neighbourly nods of approval.

Moderat favourites Seamonkey, No 22 and Apparat specialty Rusty Nails all made an appearance as did Modeselektors remix of Headhunter - Prototypes which smacked everyone across the face and snapped us out of Apparats throat lumping trance.

Good night with a good crowd, I look forward to going back.

Jamie Jones - Plastic People 16/04/10

Volcanic ash, Motor City Drum Ensemble no show and cold weather could be enough to ruin anyones night.

Not if you were at iconic London night spot Plastic People for what was to be a night full of motor city kicks and Stuttgart rhythms. Mt Eyjafjallajökull Volcanic ash has terrorised promoters across europe the past fortnight with cancellations and re scheduling, opening the door to budding young bar staff in search of that first DJ set.

Not the case for plastic people as the drinks were flowing thick as fast as Aus Muisc head honcho Will Saul (who funnily enough TEA favourites Ethyl & Flori were filling in for in Vienna) and Wolf & Lamb cub Jaimie Jones stepped in for the absent MCDE. Will and Jaime to had the place 'erupting' and Jaime was nice enough to let those that wern't there have a listen.

Plastikman live at Time Warp 2010

TEA excitedly reported the announcement of Richie Hawtin's Plastikman ressurection back in January.

3 months later, after a successful first show at Germany's Time Warp festival in Mannheim, camera man Patrick Protz helped film an official video which will no doubt give any music lover that tingling sensation/wry grin you only get when something big is about to happen....

Hawtin also personally selected Minus recording artist and fellow Midwest native Jeremy Jacobs to mix a special collection of Plastikman tracks taken from over a decades worth of classic minimal techno.

Hunee - Bobo (909 Dub)

no moustache

2 days ago TEA favourite Hunee, pictured above 'pre' moustache let us in on his new demo 'Bobo'.

"i got this lil famous drum machine from a friend. i made a dub from one my tracks. not sure, i really like start the vibe. maybe it gets too mellow, too juno-ish. i might keep it rawer...dunno... feeedback?"

Along side débruit, Premier Rang, Floating Points, Azari & III and Rick (Poppa) Howard, Hunee has been tainted as one of 2010's ones to watch by Juno Plus. He's proving them right if Bobo is a sign of things to come.

After listening to 'Bobo' don't be surprised to find yourself thinking summertime thanks to Hun Choi's smooth 909 riddums and breezy you know whats.

Kerri Chandler - The Things For Linda

Well known ambassador for the 4/4 beat not to mention his legendary bass lines, Kerri Chandler revisits his 'Linda' series with 2010 refix 'The Things for Linda' on New York label 'Downtown 161'.

4 new tracks done in true Kerri fashion have the soul of a true New York underground pioneer with 'House is House' almost a lesson for the unacquainted of house music. 'Mommy Whats a Record' throws us deeper into what house music is, follwed by a summery '11th Hour'' and jazzy 'Kerri Bacharach'

Growing up in New Jersey amongst a family of avid Jazz musicians you can see why Kerri who started djing at the age of 13 has mastered the art of rhythm and space by piecing together vocals and instruments with the ebb and flow of a true pioneer.

Resident Advisor Podcast 201

Sandwell District, Bauhaus, Horizontal Ground....Junkie XL?

Everyone loves a techno guess who, and today’s goes by the code of 19.454.18.5.25.5.18

The mysterious Frozen Border label is the latest to wrap itself up in this 'secrecy' cotton wool, forever passing its way through techno music.

The UK's sub label 'Horizontal Ground' has it's artists release their names under a numerical code, 19.86.1.18.5 making TEA's March chart with 'Snake Cave'.

Numerical code is the best hint you'll get as to who the artist is, with no myspace's, facebook's or websites. What you will find as a point of contact is a smudged email address stamped onto the vinyl sleeve.

So what better way to nurture a growing (techno) beard then to listen to Horizontal Ground's latest unknown.
